Noah saw animals all around. He could smell animal food being loaded onto the ark. The sound of screeching birds filled his ears. Noah felt hot and tired! Just then his wife brought him a cup of grape juice.

One evening when Petranella was in the kitchen, Grandma gave her a little bag of seeds. "I am too old to go with you," she said. "I want you to take these with you when you go to the new country. When you plant them, they will help you remember me."

Molly had a bony, old horse named Belle. She rode her to piano lessons every Saturday. One week a blizzard came up. They couldn’t see. Molly held onto Belle’s shaggy hair. It was so cold she froze to Belle’s back. Belle kept going and finally got Molly home to her mother and father. Molly’s father used a knife to cut her off Belle’s back. Then Belle went to sleep in the barn.
