Suggested Strategies or Projects for Learning Goals

Carefully study the Job Seeking Resources (links in Course Links to the right) :

  • Resume writing
  • Cover letters
  • Employment searches
  • How to prepare for Job Interviews

Using what you have learned, complete the following and e-mail to your mentor/teacher:

  • Create a resume reflective of your current skills, abilities, training, and interests. (Don't forget volunteer work!) Remember that visual presentation is just as important as the content. This resume is representing you. (Be careful to save this file. You will need to update it in order to complete Graduation Transitions in grade 12.)
  • Select a job that you can imagine yourself doing now; perhaps something that you would do as a part time job or as a summer job. You might select a job from a local newspaper advertisement. Create a cover letter that responds to this job/advertisement and is reflective of your current resume.
  • Be very familiar with the job interview process. Let your teacher know when you have studied this. Your final project will demonstrate how well you have learned the important things to remember while at a job interview.
  • Be very familiar with the process of doing employment searches. Let your teacher know when you have studied the materials. Your final project will demonstrate how well you have learned this.
